Welcome Back to a New School Year!
Dear Parents / Carers,
I am writing to you as we begin our new school year at Comber Grove Primary School. We hope you have all had a wonderful Summer Holiday. I thought it would be helpful to write to you about what is coming up, any changes and a few reminders.
Please ensure your child is in the correct uniform, you can check the website for exact details. Pupils must wear black school shoes or all black trainers. We ask that pupils wear a LIGHT BLUE t-shirt only for PE. If you wish, the official Comber Grove PE kit is available to purchase in the school office. We ask that children do not have hair designs shaved into their hair. We are proud of our school and are insisting on the correct uniform, including for PE. It is important that we look like a team when we attend sporting events and wearing the correct PE kit prepares the children for their next steps and secondary school.
Breakfast Club will begin immediately. We ask that all parents leave their pupils at the door and do not enter the Breakfast Club hall so that we can keep the children as settled and as independent as possible, thank you.
From this September, only Key Stage 1 pupils will be provided fruit at breaktime. If you would like your Key Stage 2 child to have a piece of fruit at breaktime, please send some in with them - it must be fruit and no other type of snack, thank you.
Roald Dahl Day
Friday 13th September 2019 is Roald Dahl Day. Your child can come to school dressed as their favourite Roald Dahl character for the day and pay £1, which will be donated to our school library. The best dressed will receive a £10 book voucher.
Speaking to Staff
May I remind parents that if you would like to speak to any member of staff, including myself, that you make an appointment via telephone. This is so that you can talk with us in a private space uninterrupted. We know that many of you wish to talk to us in the morning, but we encourage you not to do this as the teachers are preparing the pupils to learn from the minute they walk in the door.
Attendance and Punctuality
Please make sure that your child is ready to come through our gates at 8:45am, ready for school to open at 8:55am. This is so the children can be learning from 9am.
I certainly want Comber Grove to be the best that it can be for your children so that we can give them every possible to chance to succeed…but we can only do that with your help. One of our values is ‘teamwork’ and I invite you to be part of our team.
I look forward to seeing you all,
