We will be continuing to revise phase 2 and 3 sounds. Alongside this we will be learning to read and write phase 2, 3 and 4 ‘Tricky Words’. These are words that can’t be sounded out.

  • Using addition and subtraction methods, including ‘counting on’.
  •  Estimating how many objects they can see in a group.
  • Solve number problems including doubling and halving.

Shape, space and measure

  • Naming 2D (flat) and 3D (solid) shapes.
  • Use shapes to make pictures and patterns.
  • Talk about and create symmetrical patterns.
  • Use everyday language to describe position, direction and movement.
  • Understand and use the vocabulary of time.
  • Know the days of the week, months of the year and seasons.
  • Understand and use the vocabulary related to money.
  • Recognise and sort coins.

Project Based Learning

We will be doing a project called ‘Growing’; learning about the natural world around us. We will look at how plants and animals grow and change as they develop. We will grow plants from seeds, look at how chickens hatch from eggs and how caterpillars change into a butterflies. We will also learn to recognise and name some common minibeasts.

Daily physical exercise is extremely important whilst in quarantine. I will post some of the dance activities that we have enjoyed in the classroom for your child to join in with.

Watch Joe Wicks daily workouts on Youtube to get your family’s blood pumping each day!

Mr Cain, our PE teacher will also be posting fitness videos on School Story.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or queries.

Yours sincerely
