I became a Local Authority governor at Comber Grove in October 2019 and was appointed as Vice Chair of governors in September 2021. I am a lawyer at the Bank of England and I am also a mother of two small children.
I am from a Sri Lankan heritage and grew up in South West London, where I went to a primary school very similar to Comber Grove. Neither of my parents finished school due to adversity and civil war in their country. I was the first in my family to finish school and go to university. I studied Law at the London School of Economics and later qualified as a solicitor and worked at a large international law firm for several years before joining the Bank.
I live locally and enjoy the cultural diversity and wonderful community in and around Peckham and Camberwell. Education and incredible teachers have been the foundation to who and where I am today. I am passionate about making a positive difference to my local community by sharing my experiences and challenges with the staff and children at Comber Grove.
I have been struck by the amazing staff at Comber; from their passion and commitment throughout and post pandemic to the care and thought that goes into making a positive difference for the children and local community. I am extremely proud to be part of the school and hope to be able to make a difference wherever possible.
