    Fortnite and Other Online Games

    Dear Parent/Carer,

I am sure many of your children will play lots of games online and on the PS4/XBox. It is important to keep an eye on what they are playing and who they are playing with, especially if they are playing group games. Please make sure that you pop into the room where children are playing to ensure you are monitoring the content and the language being used.

Here is some information on Fortnite for parents/carers. It is important that you fully understand exactly what your child is accessing so you can keep them safe at home.

Here is some more information on online safety for you to read through and discuss with your children:

Of course, we teach online safety in school regularly. For any further information or to discuss any concerns, please do not hesitate to get in contact with me.

See below the costumes for each character. Please note, we do not expect you to go out and buy new clothes, have a rummage around and see what you’ve got in your cupboards at home. If you can’t find an item or want to chat about the costume in detail, do not hesitate to contact me.

As soon as you have the costume, please send into school in a named plastic bag and we will keep it at school for rehearsals.

  • Nursery Reopening on Wednesday 24th February 2021

    Fri 12 Feb 2021 S Bowmer

    Friday 12th February 2021

    Dear Parent/Carer,

RE: Nursery Provision after Half Term

I hope that you are all safe and well.  I am delighted to say that Comber Grove Nursery will now be open after the half term holiday.  We are very keen to get our youngest children on the road to recovery.

The nursery will open on Wednesday 24th February 2021 with a staggered start to allow the children time to integrate back into the swing of things.

    Timings will be:

    Wednesday 24th February 2021 – 9am – 11:45am (Go home before lunch)

    Thursday 25th February 2021 9am – 12:45pm (Go home after lunch)

    Friday 26th February 2021 9am – 2:50pm (stay for the full day)

From Wednesday 3rd March 2021 the nursery will be open from 9am until 2:50pm every day.  We are asking that pupils bring a packed lunch from Thursday 25th February until further notice as the kitchen is serving a very limited menu at this time.

I would like to make it clear to parents that we are not the only Nursery which is opening and that your child will benefit from the social interaction and fun activities that the staff are excited to set up for your child.

Please look out for a ‘Google Form’ questionnaire which we will send today to ask you if you intend to bring your child in on Wednesday 24th February 2021.

We also understand that you will have questions about the opening.  Please use Class Dojo to contact me or you can email at office@combergrove.southwark.sch.uk.  Mrs Nalder will then be telephoning families on Monday 22nd February 2021.

    Yours sincerely

    Monday 11th January 2021

    Dear Comber Grove Community,

I hope you all are remaining safe and well during this difficult time.  I am writing to you in line with the latest Department for Education Guidance that was released on Friday evening.

School is closed to most children.  As the virus continues to spread we have to reassess continuously to ensure the risk is minimised as much as possible.  The main message if that:

Children should stay at home if they can.

We can offer limited places to pupils with an EHCP, those who are vulnerable and those with a parent who is a critical worker where they cannot stay at home with another parent or carer.

Please think carefully about your situation at home and keep your child at home if you can.  We must do what we can to stop the spread of this virus so that we can get schools open normally as soon as possible.

We are awaiting on further information about the vaccine being rolled out which we hope will be the beginning of the turning point.

Thank you to those who have asked for a device to be provided, we will be getting these to you this week.  We are organising food parcels to replace school lunches.  On top of this we are offering FREE breakfast food boxes for every family – look out for text messages that will let you know collection times.  Please wear a mask when collecting.

Please do not hesitate to to use ‘Class Dojo’ or the school email to keep in touch with us.  The school phone lines will be open between 8am and 3:30pm at this time after which you can leave a voice message.  The answerphone will be checked every morning.

We would like to thank everyone for their patience and flexibility at this time.  I am in awe with the way the staff members have adapted to providing an online education for your children in very difficult circumstances.

Looking forward to seeing you soon,

  • Remote Learning Expectations

    Mon 04 Jan 2021 S. Wordlaw

    Remote Learning Expectations

    Dear parent/carer,

As many of you know, due to the rising in the new strain of COVID19, school will be open only to children of critical workers and vulnerable families until Monday 18th January. This means that for most of you, your children will be working from home. We want to provide the best possible education we can for your children, so that they do not fall behind in their studies. Remote Learning Expectations

    1. Children must login onto Zoom for their morning and afternoon registers. Your class teacher will share with you their Personal Meeting ID and passcode is comber.

    2. Teachers will post Literacy, Maths and a creative task each day on ClassDojo. It is expected that children complete each task to the best of their ability, and post back to ClassDojo. When students login to ClassDojo, they will see their To Do List.

    3. Teachers will make a note of who is completing their work each day. We will be in contact with you if work is not being submitted. We must work together to ensure your child is still learning at home. If we do not hear from you each day and work is not being submitted, we may have to pass this onto social services.

If you need any further information such as login details, you do not have access to a device for your child or adequate wifi, please contact the school office on 020 7703 4168 or email office@combergrove.southwark.sch.uk.

    Kind regards

  • January 2021 School Closure Letter

    Mon 04 Jan 2021 S Bowmer

    Monday 4th January 2021

    Dear Comber Grove Community,

School will now be closed until further notice (which we hope will be 18th January 2021).  We will keep you informed as much as we can.  Please engage your child in our school remote learning via ‘Class Dojo’.  We are now registering pupils electronically twice a day, every school day, so please make sure that you know the times that your child needs to log on for a live interaction with their teacher.

We will be providing Food Parcels for families, please look out for information about this from our school office.

Please do not hesitate to to use ‘Class Dojo’ or the school email to keep in touch with us.  The school phone lines will be open between 7:30am and 4pm after which you can leave a voice message.  The answerphone will be checked every morning.

A polite notice to say that all critical worker / vulnerable pupils who are attending school have been confirmed by text message and / or phone call.  For health and safety reasons we cannot accept any more pupils in this two week period.  We ask parents to wear a mask at pick up and drop off and to socially distance from one another where possible.   Bubble times will remain the same at the start of the day and pupils attending do not need to wear uniform.

We would like to thank everyone for their patience and flexibility at this time.  I am in awe with the way the staff members have adapted to providing an education for your children in very difficult circumstances.

Looking forward to seeing you soon,
